Remove Wordpress branding from videos

It's great to have all of the way available to branding the Wordpress login, admin areas etc. for clients, however, the benefit of this is severely diminished by the fact that the videos have a Wordpress install with the standard Wordpress branding on it. Would it not make sense to make the branding in the videos as generic as possible?

Just move on and let these guys see how the marketplace responds to consumer demand. There are other sources for generic training videos that you can use inside the Wordpress admin or anywhere you wish. Look around, google it and dig a bit

I think Brian's points are well made. I have some large corporate clients who are very cool about the fact that we built their site in Wordpress. For those in the know, they are buying the expertise that you bring to their business, your expertise in manipulating the benefits of WP - the google effect, the ease of use, the flexibility etc etc. For those that don't know WP - they are buying your expertise in delivering a project on one of the most stable platforms there is. If you are embarrassed to admit that it is built on WP, then you need a new sales person.

      • janmalagujanmalagu commented  ·

I think it should be available in both. (yeah i am a madman)

But seriously, having wordpress logo has it's advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is just like brian said, sometimes it helps to close a deal when client know you are using wordpress. The disadvantage is, not everyone is like that :)

So to make both clients happy, perhaps and option from the admin page to choose if we will use videos with WP logo or not will be a great plus. You manage to show the correct video depending on version of WP installed, this is not a big work compare to that.

        Nevertheless, Great stuff

I agree... this is the ONLY thing holding me back from purchasing this.

If you leave the branding, then it means it's useless to use uservoice: you don't listen to your customers wishes.

There is nothing more to say.

        Hi Guys,

I just wanted to contribute to this conversation again to clarify the thinking behind our decision to leave the branding on the videos and in the manual.

99% of clients have no idea what WordPress is so therefore it is irrelevant. The other 1% who do know what WordPress is will appreciate the fact that you are using the best tool for the job. Which you are.

If you are nervous about clients discovering that you are using an open source free piece of software to build their website then you are missing the point. Clients pay you for the value you add to their project. Not the tolls you use. Your understanding of how WordPress works, SEO and why blogging is good for their marketing is what clients value.

Besides if a client knows what they are looking for they wil see WordPress in the source code and under the help tab in the dashboard.

And if a client discovers you're using WordPress and says "Well I can download that and set it up on our hosting server and customise the themes and install the plugins myself", then they are not your client.

When I first started out I used to get nervous about the same issue until some savvy clients with bigger budgets asked me what CMS I was using and insisted on WordPress. When I told them I was a WordPress developer they gave me the job on the spot.

We now talk openly about the benefits WordPress brings to a project and have published an eBook on how to sell WordPress to clients. It's available as part of a free series by signing up at the bottom of our website - http://videousermanuals.com

Perhaps the last word should be from one of our newest customers who recently started using the video plugin on client sites:

"Video User Manuals is a worthwhile investment. As a one-person design/development studio, I don’t have the resources to invest in ad hoc WordPress training with every client–particularly ones new to WP. Rather than ‘guesstimate’ how many hours I might need to bid for training each client, I can now include training manuals as a set project fee. I also really enjoy how simple it is to make and include site specific/custom videos that are integrated within the admin panel. VUM is a pain free–and consistent–way to train users and keep me focused on design & development." - Catherine Azzarello, azzcatdesign.com

More testimonials can be found at http://www.videousermanuals.com/testimonials/

I hope that helps you understand our reasoning and empowers you to embrace WordPress as a great solution for your clients. Start talking about WordPress in your sales process and reap the rewards.

Thanks for your interest in our products and happy pressing of words!

        Cheers,

        Troy Dean

This is really the only feature holding me back from subscribing to VideoUserManuals.

        Please remove! :)

      • AngelaAngela commented  ·

Ooh, yes please - this would be great! I've had to go through the word doc and change the images to remove the wordpress logo. That would be great - no branding just a plain CMS white label with nothing in it in the videos if possible!

      • AnthonyMAnthonyM commented  ·

Trying to figure out why this has not been offered after all of this time. It is a no brainer. Remove the WP branding.

      • MichaelMichael commented  ·

You started this thread about a year ago and people clearly want this feature, myself included.

So when is this going to happen?

Don't you want me as a customer, along with all the other people who want the branding removed?

      • WizeguyWizeguy commented  ·

I learned about your videos thru the WLCMS. I would only buy them if they were also truly white label. This is a no-brainer for all the reasons already mentioned. Please DO THIS! We want this. Just offer another set without it or edit the videos and blur it out.

      • MarkFMarkF commented  ·

        Hi guys,

this is an amazing resource to pas on to clients, BUT, I agree with everyone else in that this should be generic and all WordPress references removed.

If you do this, I would seriously consider buying this great product!

        Cheers,
        Mark

      • chrisjarvischrisjarvis commented  ·

Im the same, was so pleased when I seen the videos and was going to buy them then realized it was covered in wp. Please remove or blur the logos. Pleeeeeeaaaaasssse!

      • JamesJames commented  ·

White Label Please. This would just help avoid confusion even more. Like he said in the video "training videos should be as generic as possible". The people that use Wordpress will still recognise it as Wordpress and it won't raise any questions from those that don't.

        Thanks

      • P.K.D.P.K.D. commented  ·

OK. How much more feedback do you need? White-label, please! I was ready to buy, but I have the same issue - should be clean of WP info. When (exactly) is this going to happen (since I really want to purchase this excellent resource). Thanks

      • N.M.N.M. commented  ·

100% agree it should be white label, my clients don't know what wordpress is even though they are using it and I occasionally mention it to them. I've learned not to even discuss it. It's like saying we use Linux, its just one more unnecessary thing to confuse them - it *really* does cause confusion for them. If this were white label it would be a on my sites now.

      • JohnJohn commented  ·

Not an issue for me really, I'm also upfront with my clients that their sites are built on wordpress.

      • D.K.D.K. commented  ·

White Label videos are essential. You must remove the WP logos.

We take WP to new levels, only an experienced WP user would recognize our client back-ends as WordPress.

Although we tell our clients their site is built on WordPress, they do not see references to WordPress or WordPress.org anywhere.

When you create anonymous videos we will sign up for the service and recommend it to other programmers.

      • DSD-MarketingDSD-Marketing commented  ·

I jumped on anyway and actually its not a big issue, most would not notice and to be honest we are up front about using the wordpress platform with our clients anyway - still think it could be a great selling point though.

      • DSD-MarketingDSD-Marketing commented  ·

Would love this to be unbranded, - i would jump on this in an instant if it was unbranded. As it is I will continue using my own crappy guide :(
